Vieser is a leading Nordic manufacturer of building drainage systems, known for high-performance solutions in the maritime and energy markets. Buorre’s collaboration with Vieser focused on the intensive industrial design and product development of the Vieser One well system. Our task was to develop a comprehensive system of several different wells for varying needs, ensuring each component met the high brand standards Vieser is known for while introducing revolutionary technical improvements to the market.
The objective was to create a superior product family that offered measurable benefits to both the professional installer and the end-user. We aimed to build a market-leading system where installation was a primary design value—reducing time and errors on-site—while simultaneously elevating the floor drain into a decorative interior element. The system needed to be flexible, hygienic, and accompanied by packaging that was as functional as the product itself.

Buorre was responsible for the large-scale development of the entire product system, ensuring that every component worked in harmony to solve real-world installation and maintenance challenges. Central to this technical evolution was the adjustable steel frame, which allows tilers to position the frame more freely on the drain. This revolutionary support solution ensures the drain remains in the exact intended location throughout the pouring process, significantly reducing installation time and the need for precision tile cutting. To further "error-proof" the process, we engineered a water lock handle specifically designed to prevent incorrect installation, alongside an integrated drip guard that assists contractors in achieving a perfectly level floor.

Beyond the hidden mechanics, the system’s interface was designed to elevate the user experience. The floor drain cover was developed as a stylish, decorative element that offers a high-end alternative to standard interior options, providing a visual value that matches its technical quality. Internally, the water drain valve was optimized with superior flow characteristics to prevent drying out and odors, ensuring long-term hygiene and infrequent cleaning intervals for the homeowner. This holistic design approach extended to the structural packaging, which was developed in tandem with the floor drains. By designing the box to showcase the product without being opened, we ensured all parts remained securely in place until installation, while the compact cardboard construction remains fully and easily recyclable.
The Vieser One project was a major success, claiming the prestigious international Red Dot Design Award in 2013, while the innovative packaging was recognized with a ScanStar award. The system proved that prioritizing installation efficiency and user comfort creates a more profitable and sustainable market share. Today, Vieser One stands as a benchmark for how industrial design can turn a technical necessity into a high-quality interior feature.
